GCDC is licensed by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) as a nonpublic nursery school with an educational program for children ages 2 to 5 years of age.​  

​GCDC hours of operation are 7:15 a.m. through 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Each classroom schedule allows for a balance between teacher-led and child-initiated activities, quiet and active play, as well as indoor and outdoor activities.

GCDC is closed on all Federal holidays and all other times that GSFC is closed. Parents should refer to the school calendar for other GCDC closing dates, such as Staff Development days. School calendars are distributed to parents each school year.
