I am a cat and dog mom and animal lover. I am always trying to improve my green thumb (not with much luck). I am learning to cook while also diversifying my palette (again, with little success). I have always had a curiosity of the world around me and know that all of the adults around me helped me to satisfy that curiosity. I strive to be that adult for all of the students I interact with.

In college, I studied environmental science and cemented my love and appreciation for Planet Earth and beyond. Our planet is the only one we have and I think it is important to teach people how to take care of it as early as possible. I began my working career at the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland in a hands-on out-of-school learning environment. There, I worked with young people to help them discover their passions in a safe and secure environment while also helping them to push their comfort zone. Since coming to GCDC, I have learned so much about child development and best practices. I enjoy showing young people about the wonders of the world around us and joining in their wonder and amazement. Science is around us all the time and it is so important to understand how we impact the world and how it impacts us too.

My teaching philosophy is do as I say AND as I do. I believe children learn best and the most through modeling all of the adults in their lives. As an educator, I strive to be the best example for the young minds I am influencing (and who influence me in many ways too). I feel a great sense of joy and satisfaction when a student accomplishes a goal they have set for themselves. I always want to be learning new things and becoming the best version of myself.
