Required Steps

Select an experiment The experiment must be “Testable”.  Please remember that this is an experiment for 3-5-year-olds; therefore, simple experiments may be ideal.  Duplicate experiments are not allowed within the same classroom.  (ex. 4 children making volcanos erupt) Teachers will provide families with a signup sheet at pickup and drop off.

Practice your experiment:  Allow your child to practice explaining their experiment as their peers may ask questions about the process.  During your practice run take pictures for your science board.

Complete a Project Board:  You will leave your model and your display board for all students to see and explore.  We will display them around the atrium and down our ramp.  GCDC will provide science boards for families.  Your board must include the following:

  • Center Top:  Project Title & Your Name
  • Center Middle:  Pictures of your experiment
  • Left Side:  Hypothesis
  • Right Side:  Findings/Conclusion

Present Findings:  On the day of the science fair, the children will watch your video and explore your science board.  (We ask that you allow your child to speak while conducting your experiment from home as much as possible.)  Your child will have time to take comments and questions from the class about the project after viewing your video.  Teachers will try to record this and post these videos to your private Facebook account.
