Early childhood personnel who are satisfied with their jobs and whose individual and family members’ health is protected are more likely to convey positive feelings toward children, are more able to give utmost attention to teaching and caring for children, and are more likely to remain in their positions for longer periods of time (NAEYC, 1993). Benefits packages for full-time staff are designed to meet their individual needs and include paid leave, medical insurance, retirement contributions, and educational and childcare discounts. Benefits for part-time staff are provided on a prorated basis. Neither part time or temporary employees are eligible to participate in GCDC‘s benefit program.
