Assistant Teacher, Shooting Stars

My name is Ms. Tiffany Jacobs. I recently joined the GCDC family as a new Co-Lead Teacher. Originally, I grew up in Texas but moved to Maryland in 1987.   I come from a very small family. I am the oldest of two with one bonus brother.  I have two loving parents, who have been married for 52 years.  I’m also an aunt and a great-aunt. as well.

My career in education has been a twenty-two-year journey. For the last twelve years I have been working in preschool programs in both childcare centers and the public-school sector. The first year I worked as a Dedicated Aide for Special Education. The last of those eight years, I worked in a bilingual school setting. My duties included both Teaching Assistant in the preschool and kindergarten classrooms, as well as working as a Reading Intervention Facilitator. Later, is when I transitioned to a Lead Pre-K Teacher position for the 2’s, 3’s and later to the K-Prep classrooms.

Early childhood is continuously evolving, including new practices and resources for new and existing teachers. I am always researching, learning, and bringing new challenges into the preschool class. As a preschool teacher, I love “thinking outside of the box.”. I enjoy seeing my students have their “ah-ha moments” and their eyes lighting up from new activities brings me great joy.

 In my spare time, I enjoy plenty of hobbies. I am an avid reader (such as thrillers, mystery, and comic/graphic novels). I am also a huge lover of the arts. I enjoy such things as drawing. photography and videography. I am also a jazz music lover. One of my favorite musicians is Miles Davis. At one time, I was the unofficial videographer at Powell Elementary School. I highlighted many of the events such as The Homeless Walk to The Embassy of Fiji.  I also enjoy traveling with my family to such places as the Caribbean, Niagara Falls, California, and North Carolina. 

I look forward to bringing my ideas and resources to my new classroom and students. I am excited for the school year and building strong parent partnerships with the GCDC families.
